Vovinam to be included in the 31st SEA Games in Vietnam


The Vietnamese traditional martial arts named Vovinam will be proudly included as an official category of the 31st Southeast Asian Games hosted by Vietnam. The tournament is going to take place from May 18 to May 22, 2022 at Soc Son indoor stadium (Hanoi capital) which attracts 7 teams from Campuchia, Indonesia, Philippines, Singapore, Laos, Thailand and Vietnam. The presence of Vovinam in this important sports event of the Southeast Asian region is a remarkable result from an effortive process of promoting and developing this typical martial arts all over the world in many recent years.


The participation of Vovinam at this 31st Southeast Asian Games is another opportunity to promote the prestige and quintessence of such a branding type of Vietnamese martial arts. By this chance, Vovinam hopes to leave more nice memories and towards upcoming regional championships and SEA Games competitions.


Moreover, Vovinam has been chosen as the only martial arts to demonstrate in the Opening Ceremony of this 31st SEA Games on May 12. In order to prepare for this important event, the national Vovinam team of Vietnam has called for its best athletes in both kata performance and combat category with 6 coaches and 33 champion athletes. Especially, Vietnam team recently had a chance to practice and challenge themselves in the national tournament with the participation of 600 players, coaches from 33 provinces and cities nationwide.
